qld car modification laws Page 8

Ah, Queensland car mod laws—because nothing screams fun like navigating a bureaucratic minefield. In QLD, modifications must comply with the Vehicle Standards Bulletin 14 (VSB14) and other local regulations. Key points include keeping your car roadworthy, ensuring changes don’t cause excessive noise or emissions, and that any suspension or engine mods meet safety standards.

Common areas of concern include:

• Exhaust modifications: must pass noise and emission tests
• Suspension lifts: limits apply based on vehicle type
• Lighting changes: must not dazzle or confuse other drivers
• Engine swaps: require compliance with ADRs and inspections

For precise rules and approval processes, check with Queensland's Department of Transport and Main Roads or browse through forums and listings on Tradingpost and CarShowroom for modded cars that have jumped through the right hoops.
