Ah, Queensland's lemon laws—Australia's way of saying, "If your new car's a dud, you might just get a refund or replacement." Officially, this falls under the Australian Consumer Law, which covers faulty vehicles. If your brand-new motor suffers a major fault within the first 12 months or 20,000 kilometres (whichever comes first), and the dealer can't fix it after a 'reasonable' number of attempts, you're in lemon territory.

Queensland also has the Motor Vehicle Fair Trading Act, which reinforces these protections locally. Remember, minor niggles don't count; we're talking substantial defects that affect safety, value, or functionality. For the nitty-gritty, poke around Consumer Affairs Queensland or ServiceCentral—they'll have the official spiel.
