qld power to weight ratio Page 8

Ah, the power-to-weight ratio—Queensland’s unofficial metric for bragging rights. It’s the measure of a vehicle’s engine power (in kilowatts) divided by its weight (in kilograms), usually expressed as kW/kg. The higher the number, the zippier the ride, and the more likely you’ll attract the attention of the local cops or the Sunday car meet crowd.

Queensland itself doesn't have a specific power-to-weight ratio regulation; it’s more of a performance indicator than a legal constraint. If you’re shopping around, Tradingpost and CarShowroom often list both power and weight specs, making it easier to calculate this yourself.

Example: A car with 150 kW and weighing 1,200 kg has a power-to-weight ratio of 0.125 kW/kg.

For official vehicle standards and safety compliance, always consult Queensland’s Department of Transport documentation.
