Selling a car in Queensland? Easy—if you play by the rules.
For a registered private sale you must have a current Queensland Safety Certificate before you advertise, and display it when showing the car; if it runs LPG, you’ll also need a recent gas certificate.
Do the deal with a proper receipt (VIN, odometer, price, date, names/IDs) and complete the rego transfer within 14 days via TMR—buyer pays stamp duty, you keep proof.
Clear the decks: remove e‑tags, cancel toll accounts, wipe personal data, and make sure there’s no finance owing (PPSR check is your friend).
If it’s unregistered, sell with a bill of sale and no plates—no safety cert required, but the buyer will handle inspections later.
List it on Tradingpost, take honest photos, and try not to write “no lowballers” like a Shakespearean tragedy.
