Queensland’s Safety Certificate (the artist formerly known as a roadworthy) is the ticket you need before you advertise a registered vehicle for sale, transfer rego, or register an unregistered/interstate vehicle.
It’s issued by an Approved Inspection Station and checks the basics—brakes, tyres, lights, steering, rust—the stuff that keeps you out of the shrubbery.
It applies to light vehicles up to 4.5 t GVM, motorbikes, and trailers/caravans with ATM over 750 kg.
Validity is 2 months or 2,000 km for private sellers, and 3 months or 1,000 km for licensed dealers.
It’s not a full mechanical exam or a warranty; it’s the minimum safety bar, so keep your maintenance halo polished.
