quickest drive melbourne to perth Page 518

The quickest drive Melbourne to Perth is via the Western Highway to Adelaide, then the Eyre Highway across the Nullarbor, and the Great Eastern Highway into Perth. It’s roughly 3,400–3,500 km and about 35–40 hours of wheel time in good conditions—so not exactly a Sunday dash. Plan fuel and rest stops at roadhouses, watch for road trains and wildlife, and remember the SA–WA quarantine checkpoint will relieve you of any fresh fruit and veg. Share the driving, avoid night sprints, and let the scenery be your entertainment rather than the rumble strips.
