The RAC driverless bus—often called the RAC Intellibus—is a small, fully electric autonomous shuttle trialled in Perth, WA.

It operates on a short, fixed route at low speeds, with an onboard chaperone while the sensors (LIDAR, GPS and cameras) do the actual driving.

Think first/last‑mile transport rather than freeway hero: it carries roughly 10–15 passengers and cruises at about 20–25 km/h.

The aim is to see how the tech copes with real streets and real people—who, in fairness, mostly cope by taking photos.

Rides have typically been free and booked during trial periods, run by RAC WA with support from local authorities.
