Need a receipt for a car sale in QLD? Keep it simple but thorough: include buyer and seller full names, addresses and contact details, each person’s driver licence number, the vehicle’s VIN, rego, make/model, year, odometer reading, and (if handy) engine number. Add the sale price in AUD, any deposit, the date and time of sale, payment method, whether it’s ‘sold as is’ with no warranty, and both signatures.
Each party should keep a copy, plus photos of ID and the signed rego papers, because memory is not a filing system. In Queensland, the buyer must lodge the transfer with TMR within 14 days (online or at a Customer Service Centre), and the seller should also record the disposal, then cancel toll tags and insurance once the funds land. If the car was registered, a current Safety Certificate must be provided before advertising and sale—TMR take that bit seriously.
