recommended oil for prado diesel Page 3

For a Prado diesel, you want oil that keeps the DPF happy and the turbo spinning without drama. 2.8L 1GD-FTV (with DPF): 5W-30 meeting ACEA C2 (low-SAPS) is the usual pick in Australia; 0W-30 C2 is fine if you want slicker cold starts. Older 3.0L 1KD-FTV (no DPF): 15W-40 meeting API CI-4/CH-4 is commonly specified.

Always use low-ash C-spec oil where a DPF is fitted; high-ash brews will clog it faster than a servo pie clogs arteries. Stick to reputable brands, change on time, and verify the exact spec in your owner’s manual and under-bonnet sticker. Consult official documentation for exact figures.
