recommended tyres for caravans Page 8

Choosing the right tyres for your caravan isn't just about keeping it rolling; it's about survival on the open road. Ideally, look for tyres specifically designed for caravans or trailers, often marked as ST (Special Trailer) tyres. These beauties are built to handle heavy loads and resist heat buildup better than your average passenger tyre. Recommended sizes often range depending on your caravan's weight, but common specs include 14 to 16 inches rims and load ratings matching your caravan’s Gross Vehicle Mass (GVM).

Brands like Maxxis, BFGoodrich, and Goodyear offer reliable options. Remember, these tyres typically cost between $150 to $300 AUD each new, with used ones found on Tradingpost or CarShowroom for less, but caution is advised—tyres age like milk, not wine. Always check for cracks, tread depth, and manufacturing date. Consult your caravan manufacturer for exact specs and never skimp on safety.
