In Victoria, “rego availability” usually means two things: checking if a vehicle is currently registered, or seeing if a custom plate combo is up for grabs.
For registration status, use VicRoads’ online check with the plate or VIN to see expiry, conditions, and whether it’s road-legal—no crystal ball required.
For number plates, search availability through VicRoads’ number plate service, then order if your brilliant idea isn’t already adorning someone’s ute.
Take note: fines apply for driving unregistered, and plate combos can be restricted for obvious reasons, so keep it classy.
If you’re buying a used car, run the rego check before handing over cash; it’s the cheapest due diligence you’ll ever do.
