reliable older cars Page 9

Looking for reliable older cars is like searching for a unicorn with a full service history—possible, but rare. Some stalwarts in the Aussie market include the Toyota Camry and Honda Accord, famed for their bulletproof engines and decent parts availability. Don't forget the Subaru Forester if you want a bit of rugged charm, although watch out for head gasket issues. Prices for these gems vary from around $5,000 to $15,000 depending on condition and year, with Tradingpost and CarShowroom often showcasing decent picks. Common issues include:

• Rust spots, especially in older Japanese imports
• Worn suspension components
• Electrical gremlins in aging wiring looms

Always insist on a thorough pre-purchase inspection, and consult official manuals for maintenance guidelines.
