Removing personalised plates in Queensland isn’t quite like peeling off a Band-Aid—it involves a bit more bureaucracy and a smidge of patience. You’ll need to surrender the plates to the Department of Transport and Main Roads (TMR), either in person or by mail. The plates can then be either cancelled, returned to general issue, or transferred to another vehicle or owner. Fees apply, naturally, because government services are never free. Expect to pay around $50 to $100 depending on the service you choose. If you’re offloading your cherished plates, check out Tradingpost or CarShowroom for potential buyers.
