repairable write off caravan Page 8

Ah, the infamous "repairable write off" caravan—basically, a caravan that's had a bit too much excitement and now wears its scars proudly. In Australia, this means the caravan was deemed uneconomical to repair by insurance, but it can technically be fixed and re-registered if you’re willing to jump through the hoops.

Key points to consider:

• Cost of repairs: Often more than 40% of the caravan’s value, which is why it was written off.
• Insurance: May be tricky or expensive to insure post-repair.
• Safety checks: Must pass strict inspections before hitting the road again.
• Resale value: Generally drops significantly even after repairs.

If you’re brave enough, check listings on Tradingpost for these caravans, but remember: cheaper upfront doesn’t mean cheap in the long run.
