review vw passat wagon 2010 Page 9

The 2010 Volkswagen Passat Wagon is peak sensible Euro: big boot, tidy road manners, and a cabin that still cleans up nicely.

Ride and handling are calm and composed, and the load bay is a cavernous ~603 L with the seats up—Bunnings runs feel positively glamorous.

The 1.8 TSI is punchy but watch for timing‑chain rattle and oil thirst on poorly serviced cars; diesels cruise forever but don’t love short, DPF‑clogging trips.

Many had DSG autos—smooth when healthy, but early 7‑speed mechatronics can be grumpy, so proof of software updates and fluid changes is your friend.

If you find one with a full history and a clean inspection, you get a quiet, comfy tourer for small change; skip the lottery tickets and spend on preventative maintenance instead.
