revs check for boats Page 411

Chasing a REVS check for boats? In Australia, REVS was rolled into the PPSR, and yes, you can search a boat.

Use the vessel’s HIN (Hull Identification Number) or serial to run a PPSR search and see if there’s any finance owing (a security interest) that could follow you home.

It won’t confirm registration status or seaworthiness—check your state maritime authority for rego details, and get a proper inspection.

Make sure the HIN on the hull matches the paperwork, and get a signed receipt with seller ID, price, HIN and date.

Buying via Tradingpost? Sensible move—just do the PPSR check first so your “new” tinnie doesn’t come with someone else’s loan.
