roadworthy requirements victoria Page 6

Ah, the elusive roadworthy certificate in Victoria, where your car must earn its driver's license to hit the road legally. Essentially, a vehicle must pass a safety inspection confirming it meets minimum standards. This includes working brakes, tyres with adequate tread, functioning lights, windscreen integrity, and safe steering and suspension. The certificate is mandatory when selling a vehicle or registering an unregistered vehicle.

Expect to pay around $50-$100 for the inspection, depending on where you go. Remember, it’s not a full mechanical inspection, just a safety check, so don't be surprised if the mechanic points out other issues. For the nitty-gritty, consult VicRoads or ServiceCentral.
