roof air conditioner for van Page 52

Looking to keep your van as cool as a cucumber in the Aussie sun? A roof air conditioner is your best mate for beating the heat on the road. These units typically run on 12V DC or 240V AC power, delivering anywhere from 5,000 to 13,500 BTU of cooling power, depending on the model.

Prices for new roof air conditioners usually range from about $1,200 to $3,500 AUD, while second-hand units on sites like Tradingpost might shave a few bucks off that. Installation can be a bit tricky, requiring a proper roof cut-out and waterproof sealing—best leave that to the pros unless you fancy a leaky van.

Keep in mind, these units add weight and may affect your van's aerodynamics, so balance comfort with practicality. For more options and second-hand deals, check out Tradingpost and CarShowroom.
