Run-flat tyres are designed to keep you moving after a puncture, because their reinforced sidewalls (or an internal support ring) can carry the car’s weight temporarily.
Typically you can limp on for about 80 km at up to 80 km/h, which is just enough to get you home or to a tyre shop without playing roadside pit crew.
Upsides: no immediate wheel changes and better stability when things go pop.
Downsides: a firmer ride, higher replacement cost, limited repairability, and you’ll want a TPMS so you actually notice you’re driving on a wounded doughnut.
They’re clever, not magical—treat the distance and speed limits as gospel, not a dare.
