Ah, the sales appraisal—essentially a reality check on your car’s worth before you hand over the keys. It’s a thorough inspection and valuation process that determines what your vehicle could fetch in the current market. Dealers and private sellers alike benefit from this, as it prevents those awkward moments when your expectations and the buyer’s wallet don’t quite align.

In Australia, a sales appraisal considers factors like vehicle condition, service history, market demand, and kilometres travelled. Expect a mix of professional inspections, online listings scouring, and a pinch of automotive gut feeling. For a quick, no-nonsense estimate, sites like Tradingpost and CarShowroom are your mates.

Bottom line: a sales appraisal is your best weapon against underselling or overpricing your pride and joy. Try not to cry when they tell you the trade-in value.
