second hand battery Page 41

Looking for a second hand battery? Brace yourself for a gamble, because these components age like milk, not wine. A used car battery can save you a few bucks upfront, typically ranging from $50 to $150 AUD depending on condition and capacity, but the risk is you might be shopping for a new battery again sooner than you'd like. New car batteries usually cost between $150 and $300 AUD, offering better reliability and warranty.

Common issues with second hand batteries include:

• Reduced capacity and shorter lifespan
• Corrosion and leakage risks
• Uncertain charge state and maintenance history
• Potential incompatibility with your vehicle's electrical system

Always test the battery's health before purchase, and check local listings on Tradingpost or CarShowroom for options. Remember, sometimes paying a bit more upfront saves you a world of hassle later.
