self drive tour tasmania Page 8

Planning a self-drive tour of Tasmania? Brilliant choice! Tasmania offers stunning landscapes, from rugged coastlines to ancient rainforests, all best explored at your own pace. Expect to cover around 300 to 500 km for a typical loop including Hobart, Launceston, Cradle Mountain, and Freycinet National Park. Car rental prices vary but budget around $50 to $100 AUD per day for a decent vehicle, with options ranging from economy to rugged 4WDs. Don't forget, roads can be narrow and winding, so a smaller car might be more manageable. For vehicle rentals and routes, check Tradingpost or CarShowroom, and map out your fuel stops—the wilderness isn't forgiving. Pack patience, a sense of adventure, and maybe some extra snacks.
