sell my car in melbourne Page 8

Selling a car in Melbourne isn't mystical — it's marketing, paperwork and a bit of elbow grease. Start by valuing the car with online guides and recent listings, then get a basic service and a decent clean so your photos don't look like a crime scene; expect to spend around $100–$400 on detailing or an inspection. List on high-traffic sites like Tradingpost and CarShowroom, and make sure to state service history, registration expiry, kilometres and the VIN in the ad. Price competitively by checking similar local adverts and leave a 5–10% buffer for negotiation. Handle payment via bank transfer or bank cheque, complete the VicRoads transfer paperwork and provide a roadworthy certificate if selling privately to avoid future headaches. If you want less drama, dealers will take a hit on price but handle the paperwork; for pre-sale servicing or repairs, ServiceCentral can be useful — and always get everything in writing.
