sell your house privately Page 5

Thinking of flogging your home without the middleman? Selling your house privately can save you agent fees, which often run around 2-3% of the sale price, but beware the pitfalls. You'll need to master the art of marketing, legal paperwork, and negotiation, or risk a fiasco worthy of a reality TV meltdown.

Prices for private sales can sometimes be more flexible, but you’ll be on your own to find buyers—check platforms like Tradingpost or CarShowroom (yes, they list houses too, or so one hopes).

Remember, the lack of professional guidance means you must handle contracts carefully to avoid legal nightmares. If you’re confident, it’s a money-saver; if not, it could cost you dearly.
