selling a car in tasmania Page 4

Selling a car in Tasmania involves a few straightforward steps, but don't expect it to be as simple as handing over the keys and grabbing a coffee. Firstly, you'll need to ensure the vehicle is roadworthy and registered, or at least disclose its status to the buyer. Then, complete a Notice of Disposal form to notify the Department of State Growth—this protects you from any future liabilities.

Pricing can be checked on sites like Tradingpost or CarShowroom to gauge current market rates. Expect private sales to fetch anywhere from a few hundred to tens of thousands of AUD, depending on the car’s age and condition. Always provide a receipt and be honest about any faults to avoid legal headaches.
