selling a car privately in qld Page 7

Selling a car privately in Queensland is a bit like dating without the awkward first dates—straightforward but requires a bit of paperwork charm. First, you need a current safety certificate (roadworthy check) to prove your car isn’t about to fall apart. Then, complete a 'Notice of Disposal' form with the Department of Transport and Main Roads to officially notify them you've offloaded your pride and joy. Remember to provide the buyer with the registration transfer form and keep copies for yourself—because bureaucracy loves a good paper trail.

Prices for private sales vary wildly depending on your car's make, model, age, and condition, but sites like Tradingpost and CarShowroom offer a good gauge. And don’t forget, Queensland requires you to hand over the registration transfer within 14 days of sale or face a fine. So, polish that ride, get your paperwork in order, and happy selling!
