Selling your car to a dealer in QLD is the automotive equivalent of fast food: quick, predictable, and you won’t brag about the price.
Good news: for a licensed motor dealer, you generally don’t need a Queensland safety certificate—dealers are exempt and handle the reconditioning themselves.
Bring photo ID, proof of ownership/rego, spare keys and service history; if it’s under finance, get a payout letter so the dealer can clear it on the spot.
Get a written offer that spells out condition, any fees, and what happens with remaining rego; the dealer will usually lodge the transfer with TMR.
Only hand over the keys once funds land—instant transfer preferred, bank cheques are fine but wait until cleared—and remove your toll tag and personal data.
You’ll get less than a private sale, sure, but you gain time, certainty, and zero tyre‑kickers; fair swap, if your weekend is worth more than haggling in a car park.
