should i buy a repaired write-off Page 8

Short answer: only if the price and paperwork are spot‑on; otherwise, walk. A repaired write‑off can be safe and legal, but it usually means lower resale, tougher insurance, and the odd gremlin the seller swears you “won’t notice.” Run a PPSR check to confirm WOVR status and any finance owing. Get an independent pre‑purchase inspection with frame measurements and evidence of quality repairs. Confirm it’s passed your state inspections and that your insurer will actually cover it. If the discount isn’t truly chunky—think 20–40% below a comparable clean‑title car—don’t bother.
