As shopping lists go, “snake price” sits between “instant regret” and “conversation starter.” In Australia, captive-bred natives from licensed breeders typically run about $150–$600 for common pythons and blue‑tongue skinks, mid-tier morphs around $800–$2,500, and showier species like green tree pythons from roughly $1,000–$3,000. Rehomed or rescue snakes can be $50–$300 if you’re patient and properly licensed. Setup isn’t pocket lint either: enclosure, heating, lighting and bits usually add $400–$1,500+. Most states require a reptile keeper licence, and non‑native species are generally prohibited. If you’re bargain-hunting, Tradingpost often has legit captive-bred options; just verify permits and provenance before you get hiss-terical with your wallet.
