stamp duty calculator perth car Page 9

Ah, the joyous ritual of stamp duty in Perth—where you pay a tax just for the privilege of owning a car. In Western Australia, stamp duty is calculated based on the dutiable value of the vehicle. The rates typically range from 2.75% to 6.5% depending on the car's value.

For a rough estimate, multiply the car’s purchase price by the applicable rate. New cars can set you back in the tens of thousands, so expect a few grand in stamp duty alone. If you're hunting for used cars, Tradingpost and CarShowroom often help you gauge market prices to plug into your calculations.

To avoid the guesswork, WA’s Department of Finance provides an official stamp duty calculator online, which is your best mate for accuracy. Remember, no one enjoys paying this, but it’s a necessary evil on our roads.
