statutory write-off caravan nsw Page 50

In NSW, a statutory write-off caravan is recorded on the WOVR as beyond safe repair, which means it cannot be re-registered for road use—in NSW or, practically, anywhere in Australia. You can part it out, use it as stationary accommodation on private property, or send it to the big scrapyard in the sky, but you won’t be towing it legally on public roads again. The label typically follows severe structural damage, fire, immersion, heavy collision or stripping—stuff no amount of enthusiasm (or duct tape) will fix responsibly. Always check the VIN on a PPSR report to confirm its write-off status before buying, and budget only for salvage value, not a comeback tour. If you need chapter-and-verse, Service NSW has the official word, and they do love their rules.
