subaru forester review 2023 Page 3

The 2023 Subaru Forester is the sensible shoes of SUVs—then it goes bush and outruns your mate’s soft‑roader in a rainstorm. The 2.5‑litre boxer and CVT combo is smooth and easygoing rather than exciting, while the e‑Boxer hybrid sips a bit less but doesn’t exactly bring fireworks. Ride comfort is plush, visibility is brilliant, and the cabin is usefully boxy—dogs, prams, and that flat‑pack bookcase will all get along. Symmetrical AWD and EyeSight safety tech make bad weather feel like a minor subplot, though push hard and the CVT will drone like a leaf blower. It’s not the fastest, flashiest, or cheapest to fuel, but as a family all‑rounder with real traction, it’s charmingly hard to argue with.
