synthetic fuel australia Page 5

Synthetic fuel in Australia is the motoring equivalent of a unicorn sighting—possible, but you won’t catch it grazing at your local servo. Availability is tiny, mostly pilot imports and motorsport demos, so don’t expect bowsers full of the stuff any time soon. When you do find it, brace for prices well north of AUD 5 per litre, because early tech never comes cheap and this is very early days. It runs in normal petrol engines provided it meets Australian fuel standards, but it won’t magically delete tailpipe CO2—its trick is potentially lower lifecycle emissions if made with renewable electricity and captured CO2. Grand idea, slow rollout; for now it’s a niche for heritage racers and tech demos, not your daily dash to Woolies.
