t roc 2023 review Page 4

The 2023 VW T‑Roc is the sensible small SUV that secretly fancies itself a hot hatch when no one’s looking. Most trims run a smooth 1.4 TSI (110 kW, FWD, 8‑speed auto), while the R‑Line packs a punchy 2.0 TSI (140 kW, AWD) and the T‑Roc R goes full mischief with 221 kW and AWD. It corners neatly, rides a bit firm on big wheels, and the cabin finally feels pricier, with a digital cockpit and wireless smartphone mirroring. Safety is well covered with AEB, lane assist and adaptive cruise, plus a 5‑star ANCAP rating. Boot space is decent (about 445 L in FWD, a bit less for AWD) and real‑world economy is pleasantly modest if you behave. New pricing sits roughly from the high-$30Ks to low-$60Ks on‑road, with 2023 used examples typically around $30K–$55K depending on variant and kilometres.
