takata airbag recall class action Page 2

The Takata airbag debacle triggered a compulsory national recall in Australia—replacements are free, and some models carry stern “do not drive” warnings.

Class actions have been run here against various manufacturers, usually about loss of value and alleged misleading conduct rather than crash injuries.

Whether you can join or benefit depends on your car’s make, model and ownership period, so check your VIN on Product Safety Australia and your manufacturer’s recall page, then look for current class action notices from law firms or the Federal Court.

If your airbag hasn’t been replaced yet, book it immediately; it costs nothing and could save your face—literally.

For legal routes, get independent advice before signing anything, as eligibility, deadlines and settlements change more often than a pit strategy in the wet.
