tank driving Page 2

Ah, tank driving—because who hasn’t dreamt of crushing cars and ploughing through mud like a one-man apocalypse? In Australia, you can actually get behind the controls of a real tank through various military experience days and adventure companies. Expect to pay around $300 to $600 AUD for an hour of tank driving thrills, depending on the provider and the tank model.

These experiences usually include a safety briefing, a bit of history, and then the privilege of revving a beast that weighs several tonnes and commands the battlefield. It’s not your average Sunday drive, mind you—tank driving involves a unique steering mechanism, slow speeds, and a lot of noise.

Check out providers listed on Tradingpost or local military museums offering such experiences. Just remember, it’s not all Hollywood glam; it’s heavy, clunky, and requires some elbow grease.
