Short answer: in 2023, Temporary Full Expensing had effectively no dollar cap on eligible assets—so long as your business qualified.
If your aggregated turnover was up to roughly $5 billion, and the asset was first used or installed ready for use by 30 June 2023, you could generally write off the lot.
Cars were the big caveat: the ATO’s passenger car depreciation limit for 2022–23 was $64,741, so that’s as much as you could claim even if the car cost more.
New and used assets could qualify (subject to rules), but financing, private use, and luxury car tax still play by their own fussy rulebooks.
Bottom line: great for cash flow, but don’t wing it—chat to a tax professional or the ATO before making assumptions.
