Short answer: Tesla doesn’t sell a compact hatch in Australia right now—the smallest is the Model 3, a mid-size sedan.

That oft-rumoured “cheap Tesla” (call it Model 2, if you must) remains unconfirmed and timing swings around like a Hills Hoist in a southerly.

If you want a compact EV today, look at the BYD Dolphin, MG 4, or GWM Ora, which sit around $35k–$45k drive-away and are properly city-size.

For context, a Model 3 generally lands around $62k–$70k drive-away here, so any future baby Tesla would need to undercut that to make sense.

Until then, it’s Model 3 or bust—and no, wishing very hard doesn’t add a hatchback.
