transfer a car nsw

Transferring a car in NSW is less “Fast & Furious” and more “forms & fees,” but it’s simple enough.

  • Buyer: transfer the rego via Service NSW within 14 days or cop a late fee.
  • Seller: lodge a Notice of Disposal straight away so fines don’t follow you home.
  • Bring proof of acquisition and ID; the car’s CTP (green slip) stays with the rego.
  • Pay stamp duty and a transfer fee; you’ll only need an eSafety check if renewal’s due (or a blue slip for interstate/unregistered).

Do it online or at a Service NSW centre, then bask in the glow of lawful motoring.
