Short version: you can’t “transfer” an interstate rego to NSW—you register the car afresh in NSW and retire the old plates.
Get a NSW CTP Green Slip, then a blue slip (AUVIS) inspection for interstate vehicles, plus your proof of identity, NSW address, and proof of purchase.
At Service NSW you lodge the application, pay stamp duty, plate and rego fees, and surrender the interstate plates (or show proof they’ve been returned).
Some vehicles may also need a weighbridge ticket if details are missing or the car’s been modified.
Do it promptly to keep everything legal and your insurer cheerful—no one enjoys explaining ghost‑rego to a highway patrol on a Monday.
