transfer of ownership car vic Page 5

Transferring car ownership in Victoria is a bureaucratic dance you can't skip. You'll need to lodge a Notice of Disposal and transfer the registration within 14 days of the sale to avoid fines. The new owner must pay a transfer fee, which as of now is around $40, and stamp duty based on the vehicle's market value. You can do this online via VicRoads or at a VicRoads Customer Service Centre. Don't forget, the seller should provide a completed transfer form to the buyer—otherwise, expect headaches. For a smooth transaction, check the latest details on the official VicRoads site or visit ServiceCentral for assistance.
