transfer qld license to vic Page 9

Moving south? To transfer your Queensland licence to Victoria, do it within six months of becoming a Victorian resident.

Book a VicRoads appointment, take your QLD licence, proof of identity and a Victorian residential address; they’ll do an eyesight check, take your photo, you pay the fee, and you’ll surrender the QLD card for a VIC one. No test is usually needed for a current, equivalent class licence, though expired licences or special circumstances can trigger knowledge or drive tests. Your existing conditions and P‑plate status carry over, and heavy‑vehicle classes generally transfer like‑for‑like. Until you convert, you can drive on your valid QLD licence as a visitor, but once you’re a resident the clock’s ticking—so don’t faff about. For precise eligibility, documents and fees, check VicRoads before you queue.
