transfer rego from nsw to act Page 7

You don’t actually “transfer” rego from NSW to ACT; you cancel the NSW rego and register the car afresh in the ACT. Line up ACT CTP, book an ACT inspection (most vehicles need a roadworthy/identity check), and bring proof of identity, ACT garaging address, and proof of ownership. Front up to Access Canberra, surrender the NSW plates, pay stamp duty plus rego and plate fees, and you’ll leave with ACT plates like a local hero. Then chase a refund on unused NSW rego with Service NSW, and tell your insurer the car now lives in the ACT. If the car’s modified, expect extra paperwork and possibly an engineer’s sign‑off. Do it promptly after moving to avoid fines and the sort of letters that ruin your cuppa.
