Selling in Queensland and want the rego sorted without lining up at sparrow’s? Do it online with TMR.
As the seller, make sure you’ve got a valid Queensland safety certificate (if required) and hand it to the buyer. Then jump onto the Transport and Main Roads online services and lodge a sale/disposal for your vehicle—enter the plate, buyer details, sale date/time and price. The buyer completes the transfer on their side and pays the transfer duty and fees, usually within 14 days, while your liability ends once your disposal is lodged. Keep your toll tag, remove personalised plates if you’re keeping them, and don’t fuss about CTP— it stays with the vehicle in QLD.
Do the disposal straight away (within 14 days at the latest) and you can sleep easy knowing any future fines or speed-camera love letters aren’t yours.
