Planning a truck towing a caravan? Lovely idea—until physics and paperwork crash the party.

• Check braked towing capacity, GVM and GCM; your truck’s max tow rating means nothing if you blow the combined mass limit.
• Aim for about 10% towball download and keep weights measured at a public weighbridge, not by “that looks right”.
• Trailers over 750 kg need brakes; over 2,000 kg need brakes on all wheels plus a breakaway system—and you’ll want an electric brake controller.
• Fit towing mirrors, distribute weight properly, and use sway control; then leave heroics to YouTube.

Tyre pressures, gearbox temps and legal limits vary by state, so read the owner’s manual and your road authority’s rules before you hitch up. Get it right and the only drama will be the playlist.
