types of car body style Page 9

Car body styles run the gamut from pint-sized city slickers to big bush bashers, each with its own party trick.

A hatchback has a rear door and fold-flat seats; a sedan runs a separate boot; a wagon stretches the roof for cargo; a coupe trades practicality for looks.

Convertibles drop the roof, utes add a tray (single or dual cab), and SUVs are high-riding wagons—from compact runabouts to proper 4x4 bruisers.

Crossovers mash hatch manners with SUV styling, while vans/people movers prioritise seats and sliding doors over glamour.

There are also fastbacks and shooting brakes if you like your niche served with pub trivia.

Pick what fits your life, not your ego—the dog, kids or surfboard will cast the deciding vote anyway.
