us plug to au Page 31

Trying to use a US plug in Australia? Brace yourself for a voltage hitch. The US runs on 120V at 60Hz, while Australia boasts 230V at 50Hz. That means a simple plug adapter won't cut it—you'll need a voltage converter or transformer to avoid frying your gadget or starting a small fire.

US plugs are Type A or B, whereas Australia uses Type I plugs, so an adapter is essential just to fit the socket. If your device supports dual voltage (check the fine print), a mere plug adapter will suffice. Otherwise, consider buying Aussie-compliant appliances or hunting for bargains on sites like Tradingpost or CarShowroom.
