used car prices australia 2023 Page 8

In 2023, used‑car prices in Australia finally came off the pandemic sugar high, easing as supply and new‑car deliveries recovered.

Depending on segment and condition, many models slipped from 2022 peaks by single digits to low double digits, yet still sat well above pre‑2020 norms.

New‑car availability and discounting crept back—more fleet arrivals, shorter wait times, sharper finance—nudging buyers towards showrooms and cooling used demand.

If you’re shopping, expect late‑model mainstream stuff to remain firm while older/high‑km stock softens; for new cars, drive‑away deals reappeared and haggling stopped being a lost art. Check Tradingpost for real‑world asking prices before you start waving AUD around.
