using phone while driving qld fine Page 4

In Queensland, get caught using a phone while driving and you’re staring at a fine north of $1,000 and 4 demerit points.

Do it again within 12 months and you’ll cop another 4 demerits (that’s 8 total) along with another stinging fine.

Learners and P1 drivers can’t use a phone at all; open licence drivers may use hands‑free only if the phone’s properly mounted and you don’t touch it.

Camera enforcement means “just holding it at the lights” is still illegal. Rules and amounts update over time, so check the official QLD guidance before your wallet volunteers as tribute.
