using phone while driving victoria Page 3

In Victoria, using your phone while driving is about as welcome as a flat tyre at rush hour. The law strictly prohibits holding or touching your phone unless you’re parked or using a hands-free setup. This means no texting, calling, or even scrolling through your social media feed unless it’s voice-activated or secured in a cradle.

Fines can be hefty, starting from around $496 and the loss of 4 demerit points. Repeat offenders might find themselves handing over more cash and facing harsher penalties.

For safety and legal peace of mind, invest in a proper hands-free system—your wallet and your fellow drivers will thank you. If you’re hunting for used hands-free kits, have a squiz at Tradingpost or CarShowroom.
